Welcome to Sincerely Brown Skin, a podcast where I'm diving into the intimate areas of your life on all things relationships, personal growth and self-love. I'm your host, quen, and my goal each week is to provide you with a little advice, a spoonful of encouragement and a sincere reminder that, honey, you are a wonder, you are magical, you are worthy. And then some. Now let's get this quick slant of goodness. Let's talk a little today about the workplace, that place that has been a pain in the rear end for many across the nation. That place where you have to entertain individuals Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday, whether it be in person or remotely. That place where you are trying to make a difference and be a part of change, but there is one or two individuals that have the audacity to steer out of their lanes without caution or notice, unsolicited, most of the time, and for the life of you you can't understand why. That place where you'd be like you know what they gonna make me. Tell them a thing or two, because now you are messing with my piece, something that I have worked extremely hard at trying to accomplish and maintain. I'm talking about people that we work with that forget we are all colleagues in some form or fashion, trying to accomplish the same goal, which is to make sure that that bottom line is where it needs to be. You know, sometimes taking the higher road can cause those people to continue to run over you and use you to their benefits because of insecurities that they may be experiencing, and in turn they are deflecting it on you because they see something in you they wish they had, but they can't Listen. Let me tell you what I am not sorry for. I am not sorry that you may not like the way that I may do things. I am not sorry that I make things look so easy. I am not sorry that my strong, fierce presence terrifies you. I am not sorry that I am this phenomenal black woman who walks in confidence and produces amazing results in which you cannot fan them. I am not sorry for telling you know I am not going to do it because it doesn't make any sense. I am not sorry for being who God created me to be and know you cannot be me because there is only one of me. Do better at being a better version of yourself.
Speaker 1:Sometimes, when you are on the receiving end of being deflected upon, you have to be beyond the phase of keeping your head down and doing your saying nothing. As a black community, we have been silenced enough. Sometimes, just sometimes, we have to go ahead and eloquently gather them all the way together. Now, I am not talking about getting angry or letting your emotions take the most of you and acting a plump fool. No, ma'am, we are above that. We have grown from that way of life. We should never harm each other with our words from our mouth. I am talking about gathering them in such a way to where your message is direct to the point but also respectful, so much so that they won't know whether they come or are going. The goal should never be to make them feel like crap or belittle, but they should know. Never in their entire life of existence to ever comment you like that again. So go ahead and gather one or two of them. You won't regret it.
