Welcome to Sincerely Brown Skin, a podcast where I'm diving into the intimate areas of your life on all things relationships, personal growth and self-love. I'm your host, quen, and my goal each week is to provide you with a little advice, a spoonful of encouragement and a sincere reminder that, honey, you are a wonder, you are magical, you are worthy. And then some. Now let's get this quick slide, for goodness. I believe I've shared before that I work within the field of education and on a daily basis, I'm in contact with children from all walks of life and a lot of times when I'm sitting back in listening mode as they are sharing their hearts out, I'm reminded that all they want is just for one person, one person to tell them yes, you can, I believe in you, I see you. If you don't mind, I want to share with you a little Bible story. In the Bible there was a prophet by the name of Samuel, and his story began with a barren woman named Hannah who, year after year, prayed to God for a child, and then one day, the Bible says that the Lord remembered her and sometime after, she gave birth to a baby boy named Samuel, which means in Hebrew, god has heard. Now fast forward to many years later, samuel, now an adult, fulfilling his prophetic calling, visited Jesse's house to anoint one of Jesse's eight sons as the next king. However, jesse, being a normal protective parent, didn't even bring his youngest son, david, into the house to meet Samuel, because, in Jesse's perception, david didn't measure up to his brothers. Yet when Samuel saw David, without even speaking to David, he immediately declared David to be the next king.
Speaker 1:All that time, jesse was unknowingly raising a king in his house, one of the greatest men to ever live, but he didn't see it. He couldn't see it. He only looked at the exterior. He's too little, he's fragile, he's a baby, he has no experience. Jesse couldn't envision the giant slayer, the army general, the songwriter, the musician, the history maker.
Speaker 1:Don't be like Jesse and have a king or queen in your life, especially in your own home, and not recognize him, not recognize the royalty that stands before you. You don't know the gifts God has put in your children. You could be raising the next David, the next world changer. All they need is your blessing and encouragement, assurance that you believe in them, to get a boost that will help them go further than they ever thought was possible. So I encourage you to speak words of life blessing and encouragement into the people around you, especially to your family, as you are getting ready to gather around them in this holiday season. Recognize the kings and queens in your life, ignite their dreams and grant them the permission to succeed.
