Welcome to Sincerely Brown Skin, a podcast where I'm diving into the intimate areas of your life, on all things relationships, personal growth and self-love. I'm your host, quen, and my goal each week is to provide you with a little advice, a spoonful of encouragement and a sincere reminder that, honey, you are a wonder, you are magical, you are worthy. And then some. Now let's get this quick slant of goodness. How often have you heard the phrase looks only get you? So far, personally, I've heard it countless times. Dating back to my childhood, it was ingrained in me from my parents, as a vice, to strive for the best version of myself in all aspects. Now, this isn't to diminish the importance of looks, because, let's face it, they do matter. We, as women, we understand this undeniable truth because men, they are visually inclined and consequently I do make an effort to maintain a pleasing appearance. Now, while I am not in anybody's gym on any day of the week, I do engage in some variation of exercise, you know, with a weekend walk, making sure my skin is moisturized, my hair and toes are presentable and clothes fitting and looking just right. You know, just basically making sure the outside is close to always being appealing. But in the realm of relationships relying solely on appearance, honey. It will have you falling short.

Speaker 1:

Ladies, we must transcend mere beauty, because the world, it boasts millions of stunning women. What distinguishes you as a long term investment? Where lies your value, beyond the superficial? It can hinge solely on its own qualities. And you know, regrettably, some women consume themselves on chasing and buying their beauty, mistakenly believing it's the sole requirement to captivate and retain a significant other. No, that's not enough. People appeal may capture attention, but what else do you bring to the table? What sets you apart from other beautiful women? What unique qualities do you possess that your significant other can't find anywhere else? Strive to be the kind of woman he can't imagine living without. And it doesn't have to be tied to physical intimacy, because you are more than your body.

Speaker 1:

You know, I see so many young women struggling because society places unnecessary emphasis on physical attributes. Depression and profound insecurities are rampant, and the reason is clear is because their value and worth has been misplaced. Society viewed by social media, television and misleading song lyrics it all creates a false reality devoid of peace and wholeness. My advice to you entrust your identity, your value and worth to God. In his hands you will discover healing, wholeness, joy, self-assurance, restoration and acceptance. Sincerely Brown Skin.
